Film into Improv with Christianna Tsigkou
on Saturday from 10:00' - 12:30'
About the workshop:
Improvisers get inspiration from all sorts of places. For example, have you ever watched a film and thought “Wow, I would love to play a scene like this on stage!”? In this workshop, we will focus on bringing some of that on-screen magic to our improv. By translating filmic vocabulary onto the stage, you will explore different ways of framing, editing and moving, with some film theory peppered on top. If you’re a nerd that likes to mix up artforms, this is your jam! An extended version of this workshop was taught as a course at Flock Theatre in 2024 with a showcase at Flock Festival. This is a fast paced workshop, exploring techniques through scenework and it’s not recommended for beginners.
About the teacher:
Creativity and art play a leading role in Christianna’s work. As a scenographer she focuses on performance and physical space, investigating the ways in which the human body can connect with the “space body”. During her 6 years in the Netherlands she has worked as a model-maker, a production designer for award-winning short films and web series and unscripted theatre performer, maker and teacher, collaborating with Flock Theatre. In improv, she loves intense silent scenes and using her body to communicate emotions and bring abstract ideas to life. She represented Greece at the Impro EM 2024 in Munich, finishing in 4rth place.
