"The Smart Box of Theatre" by Raschid Daniel Sidgi Saturday (10:00 - 17:00)
The world of cinema has a number of narrative tricks that are very familiar to us as improvisors, due to our viewing habits. Be it slow motion, split screen or close-ups, we know exactly how to use them sensibly. Sometimes it even seems the theater has much fewer of such tools in the box. But that’s definitely not true. The theater has developed a whole bunch of smart tricks with narrative super powers. For instance the classical apart, or the effects of differnet narrative levels, rhythmic or choral arrangements, stage spacing and so on… The theater's bag of tricks is full to bursting. In this workshop we will take a closer look at some narrative tools of the theater and try to translate some more cinematic tricks into theater.
